Cold Storage Heating
Floor heating systems are used for floor protection in cold storages. The system is established by fixing the heating cables on the wicker under the finishing concrete or by laying the heating mats on the concrete floor. The main task of the heating system is to prevent the cold rooms and ice rooms operating between -20 -40 degrees from damaging the basic equipment. Freezing soil and moisture will expand and press upwards and this will cause deformation on the operating floor in a short time. Underfloor heating systems are used to improve the working conditions on the cold room floor, to prevent the deterioration of the flooring, and to increase safety by preventing ice formation, especially on the front of the cold room doors that are opened and closed frequently.
Underfloor heating in cold storage is applied in 2 different ways during construction or renovation projects;
- Heating cables fixed on mesh reinforcement
- Heating mattresses laid on concrete
The same type of heating cables are used in both methods. Heating mattresses are finished with cold end technology fabricated in certain lengths and widths, and m2/Watt power suitable for the project is sent to the field ready. Mattresses are easier to install in flat and large areas than heater cables. Fixing the heating cables to the mesh reinforcement is a method we often apply in new construction projects. Wire mesh reinforcements prevent the deterioration of the order and form of the cables during the concrete pouring stage, thus exhibiting a more accurate application in terms of engineering.
Either way, the system will keep the floor above freezing and provide a healthy working environment floor temperature. In order for your cold storage heating system to work effectively and properly, the most important part of the system is the floor sensors and the control panel. The devices, which are produced to high standards and have a zero margin of error, provide precise measurements of the floor temperature and guide the control panel to turn the system on and off.
Heating cables used in cold room heating systems are resistance cables with series resistance. It is designed to work endlessly down to -60C. The life of the cable is equivalent to the life of the flooring. As long as the flooring is not changed, the system does not deteriorate, does not deform, does not change without performance and continues to work perfectly. There are no moving parts in the system. It is installed once and when properly installed, it can be used for many years without any maintenance. We use Schnider or Siemens products in thermostats and control panels, which are the other components of the system. Although each panel material has its own guarantees, the failure rates are also very low since the highest level of proven hardware is used.
